SUMMARY

The Llys Cadwyn redevelopment is a mixed-use scheme comprising 10,700sqm of offices, 2,400sqm of community facilities and 400sqm of café restaurant space. The new mixed-use development replaced a 1960s era Taff Vale Shopping Centre which had been derelict for many years. The project was completed in 2020, providing a major facility for 1,000 people using the office space alone.

The project was officially named Llys Cadwyn or Chain Court to represent the strong and proud industrial heritage of Rhondda Cynon Taf. The scheme has rejuvenated the area by reopening the river edge with an attractive riverside promenade, showcasing an impeccably designed space for two new office blocks, a library, council customer contact point, café, community facilities and a new leisure and fitness centre.

Working alongside Darnton B3 Architecture, Viro oversaw the BREEAM Assessment from initial concept design through to completion.
